Notes:
- Duquesne is the host in Pittsburgh and
not Pittsburgh
itself, so they can play at home without breaking any rules.
- Since the Ivy league does not have a conference tournament, they send
the regular season conference winner.
While Penn leads the Ivy league in the
MRI, they would need to win against Princeton to win
the title. They may end in a 3-way tie with Princeton and
Yale which would be resolved this week.
- UCLA is conspicuously absent
from the projected tournament teams.
It is nowhere near making it in the MRI terms. They have just not been among the
“best” teams this year.
This includes winning the games that you are supposed to win. UCLA has not been able to
consistently beat the teams in conference and out that they were supposed
to beat. This may change in
the next few weeks, especially with the conference tournament in the
PAC-10 for the first time in a long while though they are falling further
- Small conferences getting top
seeds: MAC (Kent State),
Horizon (Butler), WCC
(Gonzaga), Sunbelt (Western
Kentucky), MVC (Southern
Illinois). While unlikely that these teams will
be rewarded this much for their good seasons, it will be done here. The only one of these teams likely
to get a high seed is Gonzaga with a smaller possibility of Kent State and Western
Kentucky getting maybe an 8 seed.
- I disregarded anything that
happened in tournaments that were not done by Monday night. It was just too difficult, so say
what you want about me slacking.
Teams like Manhattan and Vermont were
already eliminated by the start of Monday. Conferences like the Horizon
conference will probably end with two bids because of heavily favored Butler losing
in the conference tournament.
Conferences with multiple bids: SEC (7), Big
East (6), Big 12 (6), ACC (5), Big 10 (5), Pac-10 (5), C-USA (4), Atlantic 10 (2),
WAC (2), MVC (2)
